FruitCast was built by people who understand farming. Here's why we started and what drives us.

Founder & COO
Throughout my career in AI, I've watched growers struggle with the same problem year after year: predicting what's coming out of the field.
After completing my PhD in agricultural AI at the University of Lincoln, I knew there was a better way. Traditional forecasting relies on gut feel and spreadsheets. I wanted to combine the irreplaceable knowledge of experienced growers with the power of machine learning.
FruitCast started in 2019 with a simple idea: count fruit using computer vision, then use that data to predict yields. Today we've counted over 400 million fruits and our forecasts are trusted by growers producing 35% of the UK strawberry crop.

For 35 years, I've worked in large-scale agriculture. My career has always been focused on finding practical, technical solutions to solve the biggest problems growers face.
I first met Raymond through Ceres, the UK government AgTech innovation initiative. His vision for combining deep grower knowledge with powerful data immediately resonated with me. When he asked me to join him to build FruitCast, I was delighted.
The growth has been rapid and focused. Through IUK grants and private investment, we moved from concept to revenue in two years, achieving profitability within three. Some days are great, others are a challenge—but I'm profoundly proud of this company and what we've achieved.

On average our forecasts land within 10% of actual picked volume one week out (90% accurate) and within 17% three weeks out (83% accurate). We guarantee less than 20% error — by combining your deep grower knowledge with real-time video observations and advanced AI, we forecast from what we observe rather than historical estimates or intuition.
